This guide is a walking tour of the major monuments of Baroque Rome - architecture, sculpture, and painting and the artists who made them. It takes you from one point of interest to another in the Eternal City according to your desire as suggested in the eight itineraries. Think of this APP as your traveling companion while in Rome. It is meant for the curious visitor who has time to tour and wants to know why Baroque style evolved and to learn more about Rome’s major Baroque monuments than the pitiful few sentences available in general guides. As a bonus I also have included some eccentric choices, works you might not otherwise see, hence the word eccentric in the title. My purpose is to provide some historical context for the fantastic works of art and personalities involved and, most importantly, get you to look carefully, to think about what you see, and to understand the ideas behind the art. Hence the eyeballs for the frontispiece. The audio chapters represent the most notable places to visit. If you have limited time select from those chapters. Special emphasis has been placed on Caravaggio, Bernini, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Galleria Borghese, and two great Jesuit churches, the Gesù and Sant’Ignazio.

You will need an internet connection on site or you can download chapters with audio commentary from wherever there is an internet connection.
Even if you only have a few days to tour you will still have time to visit most of the major sites.
